Mitzi

I just wanted to drop you a quick note since today is the anniversary of the day we brought Mitzi home! It's surprising to us that it's only been a year as it seems like there was never a time she wasn't ours. She continues to amaze us on a regular basis, constantly evolving and becoming more and more outgoing all the time. She has started to chase sticks and balls, though she rarely brings them back:) She will follow Charlie into the water but only to the point where she might need to swim. We carried her into the lake last summer to show her she could swim, putting her in for just a moment before scooping her back up. As we waded back to
the beach she was doing the doggy paddle in the air the whole time! She is very well behaved off-leash --- we have some great off-leash dog trails around here--- and she always comes when called. She actually runs to you like a bat out of hell... her feet seemingly never touch the ground! She also loves meeting other dogs when we're out walking. And she'll play with them in a very happy, excited way. She's also outgoing with meeting new people. She actually waits for people to catch up to us on the street so she can get some attention and say hi. She's very good with children as well. We have three
nephews aged 10 and under and she'll let them pick her up and snuggle on their lap happily.
Mitzi has brought so much to our lives. She's a very special member of our family and, because of her history, she has given us the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of adopting dogs and not getting them from pet stores. She's a walking example of how resilient and forgiving dogs can be and how rewarding it is to take a chance on a puppy mill rescue. People can't believe she had an unhappy life before because she's just so joyous. We're so lucky to have her and we're so grateful for both of you for everything you did for her. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And with this being February, Happy Valentines Day!!
