Daisy Mae and Milo
|
Happy Tails Update - November 3!!
Kristina, you have no idea how I love DaisyMae and
Milo ! Then again, you probably do ! They
have such different personalities and I can tell that
Milo spent his life caged with little to no human contact,
and Daisy definitely had humans that loved her (at
some point things went bad I suspect). Milo never
learned to play with toys - he's all about needing
to be held, needing my undivided attention, play fighting
with Daisy and eating. Daisy gets bored and scouts
around the house. She's the watch dog in the
family, and the squirrel hunter !
|
They are dealing with the cold weather much better than
I expected and I have sweaters and coats for them, of course!
They get along so well - they are such sweetheart dogs. Daisy
is so smooth, she's like a bunny rabbit. Milo's coat
and skin are shiny and healthy now -all the hair grew back
on his tail and he just shines. Bless you for
finding them for us ! P.S. we had to put our
16 year old (Max) down - he had a brain tumor and went
downhill fast with seizures. he was so cooperative
and compliant with these little dogs and now we just have
the two of them to love and protect - back to work !

Hi Kristina !
Our babies are doing just fine ! I'm putting Daisy
Mae on a bit of a diet because she is getting a little
plump. That's what happened when I tried to get
more nutrition into Milo to improve his skin dryness
and rough coat (which have improved immensely) I
swear Daisy was a cat in a prior life - her coat
is so smooth, you don't want to stop petting her !
And she is so smart, she lays in the grass
in the back yard and just waits, like a cat would, until
she pounces on Milo (who is just minding his own business,
la la la, smell that twig, la la la, check out that
dead worm) and then Daisy attacks and they run around
the yard.
Yesterday she treed a squirrel and I half expect her
to climb the tree one day! I tell everyone
how you were responsible for us ending up with two !! |
Because you
KNEW Daisy would need a playmate. The
first time I saw them play together, it was a little scary,
because they stand on their hind legs, with teeth bared and
tumble and tussle. They are so fun to watch, now that
I know they are playing.
I can tell from the scars
that Milo has (right rear leg, left flank, right ear)
that he has played before, but probably with more aggressive
males that hadn't been fed and were trying to eat him or
keep him from getting the few scraps that were thrown in. Luckily,
whatever his experiences were, he is happy to play with Daisy
and he can kick her ass sometimes even though she
is stronger. Milo has a chip, which the vet identified
for us so we have him registered to us now, in
case he is ever lost.

We are making progress with socialization and housebreaking. I
need to get some sweaters, coats and boots soon, weather's
turning cold ! I will try to send some recent
photos soon !
Take care ! Barb and Dennis, DaisyMae, Milo and
Max Simmons
